What We Do

Overview

Friends of Gabon seeks to connect volunteers who previously served in Gabon.  We publish a newsletter three times a year, have a Facebook group and organize annual reunions.

In 2014, a group of former volunteers formed Encore de la Paix to reconnect with the country where we served, through a series of social service projects in Gabon.  To date, we have raised funds and returned to Gabon to renovate schools that Peace Corps had built in the 1960s, to distribute mosquito nets, build latrines and complete world map murals in three villages in the Wolen-Ntem.  In 2020, because of the pandemic, we organized an emergency distribution of food and medical supplies in communities in Libreville where we had establihsed connections.
